Lawn Care At The Lake believes in a dynamic approach to yard care.
Weed Problems ? We offer multiple lines of defense ! Every single cut is an opportunity to create stronger , lusher grass. Cutting lawns at appropriate heights and time intervals will decrease thatch, fertilize grass and also suppress weed germination. When weeds have already taken over or in the event of advert growing conditions we also offer multiple chemical lines of defense :
Eco-Friendly Weed Control : a selective herbicide that kills weeds without damaging grass. It works by introducing high levels of iron which binds to a chelating agent. Broadleaf weeds easily absorb chelated irons in larger quantities than grass, causing cellular damage and effectively killing the plant. Used to control dandelions, false dandelions, english daisies, white clovers, black medics, bull thistle, canada thistle, chickweed , creeping buttercup , plaintain , lawn burweed , moss and algae.
Two application approach
Fido friendly ! Safe to use around pets and children
Dry time ~ 3 hours
Broadleaf Weed Control : a broad - spectrum herbicide formulated to control hard to kill annual and perennial weeds. The active ingredients include 2,4-D, mecoprop-P, and Dicamba. Controls over 50 different lawn weeds including dandelions, plantains, clover, ground ivy (creeping charlie), ragweed and poison ivy ! Active ingredients are absorbed by plants and systemically into weeds.
No soil residual activity
Can re-enter area once dried
Round - Up : A non - selective herbicide for driveways or walkways with hard to kill weeds , mosses, and even shrubs and saplings. Glyphosate is an effective tool that can also be used to pre - treat a lawn before sod or seed application.
Must be applied at least 7-10 days before sod or seed application
Want thicker , lusher grass ? We offer an effective over-seeding and fertilizing program.
Aerating : aerating involves poking holes into the soil. This process not only helps control thatch but provides the space necessary for air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass root. This helps to strengthen already established grass. Moreover, it provides a safe space for grass seeds to germinate.
Over - seeding : after aerating the lawn we apply a grass seed which falls into the holes and is able to germinate without interruption.
Fertilize : Fertilizing can be done with or without the first two steps. Adding nitrogen to your grass not only improves its growth but will also help your lawn in its ability to withstand heat and stress !
Getting Bugged Out ?
Lawn Care at the Lake offers a spraying service for house or cottage owners that are battling the bugs. Whether its spiders, ants, crickets, flies or lady bugs we have a solution for you ! Insects are repelled by the compounds found in the flowering plant chrysanthemum. Unfortunately, the naturally occurring compounds are not very stable and do not last very long, therefore scientists have created synthetic compounds called Pyrethroids. They are equally, if not more effective and remain stable to provide longer repelling qualities. While this is toxic to insects ( and also harmful to aquatic species ) it is safe for humans and pets once dried.
Spiders : the very first step in spider / spider web control is to knockdown all of the existing webs and clean the structure. After that is complete we will spray the structure to rid of any remaining pests and also repel future problems.
Flies / Lady Bugs : Although Lady Beetles can be very beneficial to the destruction of aphids, the more common pest, the Asian Lady Beetle have recently become a large problem in Manitoba. Unlike the native Lady Bug which has tendencies to leave an area, the Asian Lady Bug likes to stay. They are more prone to biting and can also be toxic to dogs. While it is rare for them to actually cause a poisoning, they can be problematic for a dogs gastrointestinal tract. By spraying your cabin or cottage, we will rid of any current pests and also repel any future pests from landing and staying.
